With your support we can give working animals and the people who depend on them a better future.

Some people think of SPANA as an animal charity that helps people. Others think we are a people charity that helps animals.

SPANA's CEO Jeremy Hulme and other staff members write from the front lines of our work, taking in everything from the Chelsea Flower show to the drought in Chad.

How we use your money

At SPANA we work extremely hard to minimise our costs and unlike many charities we send funds directly to SPANA staff in the countries that we work in. We do not send any funds via overseas governments and we can account for every penny spent.

Last year our donation income helped SPANA vets to save the lives of over 400,000 working animals in Africa and the Middle East

In 2008, for every pound given to SPANA, 81p went to our charitable work, only 2p paid for the running costs of the charity, and 17p went towards raising another pound to help even more working animals.

For more detailed information about our financial activites please have a look at our latest Annual Review.

The www.charityfacts.org site also provides interesting information on why charities need to spend money on raising funds.
