With your support we can give working animals and the people who depend on them a better future.

Some people think of SPANA as an animal charity that helps people. Others think we are a people charity that helps animals.

SPANA's CEO Jeremy Hulme and other staff members write from the front lines of our work, taking in everything from the Chelsea Flower show to the drought in Chad.

Water troughs in Marrakech

To date, nine troughs have been built, at strategic points around the town, such as calèche horse stands. We've had some teething troubles with regards to connecting the troughs to water mains, but as always SPANA has found a solution.

We are going back to the original plan of a mobile water bowser which will visit the troughs twice a day to fill them and, at the same time, check that they are clean and being properly used.

This also has the added benefit of allowing us to ‘advertise’ SPANA’s role on the water cart as it travels the city streets.
