Water troughs in Marrakech
In Spring 2008, we ran an appeal to build water troughs at key points throughout Marrakech, to help fight the cases of de-hydration, particularly during the summer months.
To date, nine troughs have been built, at strategic points around the town, such as calèche horse stands. We've had some teething troubles with regards to connecting the troughs to water mains, but as always SPANA has found a solution.
We are going back to the original plan of a mobile water bowser which will visit the troughs twice a day to fill them and, at the same time, check that they are clean and being properly used.
This also has the added benefit of allowing us to ‘advertise’ SPANA’s role on the water cart as it travels the city streets.
