Iraq

The conflict in Iraq and the massive suffering it resulted in has been well documented. However, the plight of working animals is sometimes overlooked. Many Iraqi farmers face a daily struggle to keep their horses and donkeys alive, so they can work the land and feed their families.

SPANA was invited to help in Iraq by the Red Crescent and the Royal Army Veterinary Corp. We have already made three emergency missions to distribute food and medicines and, using a local veterinary team, have treated over 140,000 sick and injured animals.
