Emergency in Chad – Food and Water Desperately Needed

As you may have seen in the news, conflict in Sudan has forced more than 400,000 people to flee their homes into neighbouring Chad. Many have lost everything and are now struggling to survive in overcrowded refugee camps. Their only hope for the future lies with their animals. Without their livestock and donkeys, which they use to transport water and firewood, they would have no way of making a living and would have to rely on outside help simply to survive.

At the United Nations’ request we visited the region and assessed the situation there. In the Gaga refugee camp in Chad I saw for myself the desperate conditions people and their animals face. Horses, donkeys and cattle were wasting away as their weakening bodies battled against hunger and thirst. And with 600 more refugees arriving every month, things can only get worse.

Time is running out for a great many animals and the families who rely on them. We need to raise £50,000 to build two water dams and provide 150 tonnes of fodder, ensuring these animals have the food and water they need to survive. The only way we can win the race against time is with your help.

Please send what you can, as soon as you can. Thank you.
