With your support we can give working animals and the people who depend on them a better future.

Some people think of SPANA as an animal charity that helps people. Others think we are a people charity that helps animals.

SPANA's CEO Jeremy Hulme and other staff members write from the front lines of our work, taking in everything from the Chelsea Flower show to the drought in Chad.

What we do

But we are not an ordinary animal charity. We know that working animals ensure that families can make a living. If an animal falls sick or is injured, then the family it supports may go hungry and fall deeper into poverty.

We believe that by ensuring a working animal is well and healthy, it can make even more of a contribution to the lives of those who depend on it.

How we help animals and the families that depend on them

Free Veterinary Care - Our mobile clinics and refuge centres care for over 400,000 animals every year.

Education - We teach owners and children how to respect and care for animals.

Emergency programme - In times of crisis and disaster we are there to ensure both animals and people can get back on their feet.

Outreach programme - We support projects that improve animal welfare all over the world.
