Other Ways to Help SPANA

Recycle for SPANA
Recycle your mobile phone, toners and ink cartridges and help SPANA save working animals abroad. Please call Sarah on 020 7831 3999 and ask for some freepost recycling envelopes. Recycling will help SPANA save lives and will also help the environment. Don’t forget to ask for extra envelopes if you have friends or family who could help.
Cartridges/toners accepted:
Toners –
Most toners are ok
Cartridges – Dell, HP, Lexmark, Samsung, Panasonic, Pitney Bowes, Xerox and IBM – make sure they have a metal print head.
Canon cartridge – not all have a metal print head. Please only send Canon cartridges in if they do have a metal print head.
No Epson cartridges.

Stamps save Lives
One of our supporters, Paul Westcott, deals with the time-consuming task of processing and selling used stamps to raise funds for SPANA. Paul has requested you cut the stamps from the envelope and leave a ¼ inch around the stamp to make it easier to process. Please do not tear around the stamp as this damages them and makes them worthless to sell on. Please send all stamps to:

262 High Street Eastleigh
Hampshire
SO50 5NA

If you have a large amount of stamps and would like to know they arrived safely please enclose a self-addressed envelope. (Please check the packet size and weight before you send it to Paul as several packets have arrived underpaid and have to then be paid for by SPANA funds.)

Postcards
Do you have any used postcards lying around at home? By sending them on you can help raise funds for working animals.
Send the postcards to

Miss J Webb
18 Hammonds Way
Totton
Southampton
Hampshire
SO40 3HF

Miss Webb will kindly sell them on to collectors and send the proceeds to SPANA.

Nosebands
In some of the countries where SPANA works, horses, mules and donkeys often have wounds from ill fitting harnessing on the head. Although a long term goal is to replace all tack with leather harnessing, in the short-term SPANA supporters can help by making noseband covers to go around chains and other harsh material. Being able to cover these nose pieces with soft material is hugely beneficial to the welfare of these animals. We constantly need them as they do wear out, so if you are interested in making some more us please read the following instructions:

  • Washable nylon fur fabric preferred
  • Size 11’ x 4’
  • One strip of Velcro to be attached to the inside length; another strip to be attached to the outside of the fabric. (This is better stitched than glued as the glue deteriorates quickly in the heat) - The noseband is then ready to be attached to the bridle by rolling it around the existing noseband and securing it with the Velcro.
  • Send all nosebands to our veterinary director, Karen Reed:

Ebay for Charity
It is now possible for anyone selling items on Ebay to donate part of their earnings to SPANA. This is really good news for us as often supporters offer to donate us their goods to sell but we cannot do so due to difficulties with administration and storage. So now, our supporters can sell an item on Ebay whilst also having the satisfaction that they are helping a good cause. If you are interested in this, visit www.ebay.co.uk/ebayforcharity for more information.
